Special Transportation Service Driver Training

Minnesota D.O.T. required Special Transportation Service training classes are scheduled throughout the year.

Minnesota is currently one of only two states in the country that requires state-certified training for drivers of special needs and vulnerable passengers and patients. The required classes are Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Training (Ambulatory and Wheelchair), Abuse Prevention/Maltreatment Awareness and Basic First Aid, and are scheduled regularly. Emergicare's trainers are certified by the Minnesota Department of Transportation to instruct all four areas of training. We also can teach the required eight hour refresher course and seven hours of Continuing Driver Education that MN DOT requires for driver recertification every three years.

News and Notes:

Refresher Training: Per current MN DOT requirements, a driver is required to take 8 hours of classroom training (First Aid, Defensive Driving and Passenger Assistance/Abuse Prevention) and have 7 hours of documented Continuing Driver Education (CE), or take 15 hours of classroom instruction, every 3 years. (See Tuition page for costs)

Please direct any questions about training, certification and space availability to Emergicare's office, via e-mail or phone call. Host locations are not able to reserve class seats, confirm registration or answer questions about classes.

Now Available: Pay on line by Credit/Debit Card. (See below.)
